Mabalakat Satchmo

This is our new boy, Satchmo.  He has enjoyed a lot of success on the show bench as a kitten and we are hoping to continue in this vein in the Premier/Alter sections now that he has been neutered.  It was a hard decision, but we wanted a cat that we could show year-round, not dependant upon hormones!  He is also very much a loving and much loved pet here, and related to several of our breeding cats, so whilst the decision to neuter him wasnt one that we took lightly, it was always going to happen. Weighing in at 5 kgs at 6 months we think he is going to be a large boy and will hopefully showcase our breeding when the girls are busy with babies!

Up and coming new girls ... no 3...

Finally – this is Mabalakat All That Jazz (Jazz) who is out of IGRCH Coonberry Daddys Girl and UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker (Poppy and George).

Continuing the high quality of kittens from this mating, we have decided to keep Jazz, even though she is related to both of our current boys and a full sister to Menemsha, so, like her, will until we find a new boy, be going out to stud.

Tortie tabby with white, Jazz is a gentle loving girl, who, together with her brother Satchmo, has been having very good results as a kitten, and we look forward to showing her as an adult.

Up and coming new girls continued....

We also welcomed to our cattery Lucifern Lalique from Jo and James Hastings at Lucifern Maine Coons.  Lalique is a richly coloured and heavily coated tortie tabby, with beautiful green eyes.  She has a very broad muzzle and the typical grumpy maine coon expression (even though she is a very gentle and friendly girl). She currently has 3 CC’s but hasnt yet achieved Champion status, as two are from the same judge! (My fault for not reading show schedules correctly!)  We have taken her off the show bench for the time being so that she can have kittens, and we hope that she will for her first litter have babies by Walter.

Up and coming new girls....

In the spring of 2017 we welcomed two new girls to our future breeding program.

Welcome to Alisika Pascali.  Pascali is out of our own bred Mabalakat Columbia who went to Ali Blades in Nottingham (Alisika Maine Coons).  Ali bred Columbia to her huge imported boy who is a lovely pale cream silver shaded and white, as is Pascali.  We have long wanted this colour so were very happy to bring her into our cattery.  It is a shame that Pascali showed us pretty quickly that showing wasnt for her – as such a good example of both colour and breed type we really had hoped she would do well, but it wasnt to be.  So now we are looking forward instead to her having kittens with our boys (she is an outcross to both).

We dont currently have any kittens, or expected litters.  The girls are not yet coming into call, so we are waiting on them – but once we think we have litters due, we will, of course, update on here.

Currently planned, and in the order we hope to have kittens:-

Lucifern Lalique to Walter – this mating should give us red tabby males; tortie tabby females; brown tabby females (all +/- white).  If Lalique carries solid then we could also get black, red or tortie solid (+/- white) but this isnt known as yet.

Lucifern Lalique

Alisika Pascali to Walter – this mating should give us red tabby, red solid, red shaded or red smoke males (all +/- white).  Females will all be tortie – either tortie tabby; silver tortie tabby; tortie smoke; tortie shaded; solid tortie (all +/- white)

IGRCH Mabalakat Northern LIghts to UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker– this mating is a repeat of last years so kittens from that mating can be seen if you scroll down to Izzy’s litter.  Colours could be red tabby or solid males and females; brown tabby males and females; tortie solid or tortie tabby females; black males or females (all +/-white)

George (UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker)
George (UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker)

IGRCH Coonberry Daddys Girl to UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker – this mating is a repeat of the matings that gave us Menemsha, Walter, and Satchmo and Jazz.  Poppy’s previous litters can be seen by scrolling down.  Likely colours are males – brown tabby, black and white, black smoke; females – tortie and white, tortie tabby and white; tortie smoke and white; silver tortie tabby and white.

GRCH Mabalakat Menemsha-Bay to ?  (Menemsha has to go out to stud so this is yet to be arranged but hopefully will be to same boy as last year, CH Julescoon Paddington-Bear.  Their kittens can be seen by scrolling down under Menemsha’s litter).

Welcome to Zeta Melluandia our new girl from Poland.

In November, we welcomed a new addition to our breeding cats…. Zeta joined us from breeder Ewa Szczucka in Poland.  Zeta is a huge long tortie tabby with a gentle nature who we hope will be a really great addition and welcome outcross to our breeding.  Her first kittens will most likely be in the autumn or spring 2019.

Zeta has a fabulous profile, wide muzzle and tall ears.  She also has a long body with tall legs and promises to be a very large girl when mature.  She isnt very keen on being bathed however, so may not be able to be shown – we are currently working on that problem with her!  These photos were done today, at 8 months old.

It has been quite a while since I updated this site so quite a bit to catch up on.

Firstly Show news – Early October saw us at the MCBS and LH/SLH  shows, where Izzy (IGRCH Mabalakat Northern Lights) achieved her final Imperial certificates (and both Best of Breeds) before going on to the Supreme, where she was awarded her first UK Grand certificate and Best of Breed.  The UK Grand is ONLY given at the Supreme, and she needs two to get the title, so hopefully, she will be back again in October 2018 to try for the second one.  In December she attended two TICA shows, and had several finals and is now also a GR CH in that organisation too!  She is now taking a rest from showing to (hopefully) have her second litter to George early in 2018.

In November, GR CH Mabalakat Menemsha came back out onto the show bench after a long time off whilst having her first litter, and at the CPRCAOV show, she gained her first Imperial certificate, and also went on to be not only Best of Breed, but Best of Colour across all MC adults, neuters and kittens, too!  In January, she achieved her second Imperial certificate at the Capital and Eastern shows, and was also Best of Breed in both shows.

Satchmo and Jazz went to the MCBS and LH/SLH shows in October for their first kitten shows, where both did well, with Satchmo taking 1st and BOB in the LH/SLH show, losing out to an older cat in the MCBS show for BOB (though he was first in his age group), and Jazz was second in both shows to an older girl, so good results for their first show, only making the required 14 weeks of age by a few days!

At the CPRCAOV show in November, they had a very good day.  Jazz was again second to an older girl, but in a class where all the cats were of excellent quality that is nothing to be embarrassed about!  Satchmo had a wonderful day – he was 1st and Best of Breed, then made Best of Colour across all the Silver series adults, kittens and neuters, and finally went on to be Best In Show Semi Longhair Kitten!  Both will be out again on the bench now that they have matured more, so hopefully more results soon!
