We can confirm that Lalique is expecting to George, kittens due around April 7th. Izzy is keeping us geussing, there are some signs she is pregnant, but nothing definite as yet, we will know for sure soon, as if she is, her kittens are due around April 1/2nd.
Poppy may also be expecting kittens, to George, and if she is pregnant, will be due around 18th April.
Huge thanks to Neil Wiles for these lovely photos of George at last weekend’s double show (excuse the old hag holding him lol!) Olympian classes are so hard competing against the best of every breed. I just felt in full winter coat he looked so amazing had to give it a go, and was very pleased that he was placed 5th and 6th in such large classes of wonderful cats all in their prime. George is the father of most of my cats, and is grandfather to Jazz’s babies.
Here is judge Ms Bruin’s report on him from the Southern show: 5 CANNELL’S UK IGR CH ALISIKA CITY-SLICKER (MCO d 03 22). Large, rectangular; high on heavy legs. Voluminous muzzle that cld be a tiny bit longer for perfection. Lovely eyes for shape, size, placement and expression. Ears large, wide at the base, set at a slight slant as he was very relaxed; large tufts. Coat of good length; double structure a little too opulent. Red Blotched (pattern rather vague) and White Bi-Colour. Purring along when handled
Whilst we welcome phone calls from people interested in looking for a kitten or cat, at sensible hours, receiving an automated message at 5.20 am is guaranteed to put you straight onto our blacklist!
It has been a long time since George came out (as a UK IMP GRCH he hardly needs to prove anything!) but he is looking so wonderful at the moment we couldnt risk trying him in the OLYMPIAN class. This is against the VERY best cats, across all the different breeds and is notoriously hard to do well in. George has already received one certificate at this level, but I took him thinking I would be happy if he were to be placed. He had a wonderful day, in both shows he was placed in the OLY class, (5th and 6th) and also got Best of Breed, and in his side classes had 3 firsts and one second in big classes, so we were happy. He as usual, behaved brilliantly and was an excellent ambassador for the breed, welcoming attention from visitors. Photos will follow later.
We have just mated both Izzy and Lalique to George, so hopefully we will have two litters in early April. (To be confirmed in next couple of weeks).
After 30 years, this is to be our last year of breeding. All good things come to an end, and we think we have more than made a contribution to the furtherment of this wonderful breed, and to good breeding practise. We hope to wind down slowly, but sadly, wont be able to keep all of our cats ourselves, so will be looking to find new homes for some of them. We are going to have a last litter with each girl, (so hopefully 5-6 litters this year) in the hope that it might be possible for them to find homes with one of their kittens. If you think you might be interested in having a mother/kitten pair, please do let us know, but we would prefer this to be to homes without other pets already. We only want the very best pet homes for our cats, and they will be neutered, vaccinated and health checked prior to leaving us. They will not be giveaways, there will be a charge for each cat, though not as much as a kitten. Some will be staying here with us, as pets and to allow us to enjoy showing from time to time.
