Supreme show results

A bit late, but we had a wonderful day at the Supreme show this year.  We took brother and sister, Satchmo and Jazz.  Satch was up for the UK Grand Premier certificate (his first – only awarded at the Supreme show annually, and two needed for the title).  He was awarded the UK and kept back for the other cats in his colour group to be judged for Imperial, Grand, and PC before Best of Breed could be awarded.  As each class was done, the winner was compared with him, then sent back to their own pens…. this was nail biting, but in the end, he was given the BOB, making him the best Silver Tabby series neuter present.

Then it was Jazz’s turn.  Having had time out at the beginning of the year to have kittens, then recover, she was going for the Imperial Certificate.  Again, she was awarded the certificate, then kept back and judged against the winners of the other classes.  Didnt take so long in her case, as there werent so many cats in these classes, but she was up against some stunning boys, so it was very tense, and in the end, the judge awarded the Best of Breed certificate to her!  To say I was pleased would be an understatement!

Later in the day, both were up against the Bests of all Semi-Longhair breeds for the Best of Variety award.  In the case of the neuters, none of the Maine Coons were considered, and the award went to another breed.  But in the entire cats, three maine coons, one male, another stunning female, and Jazz were up against the Siberian boy as the judge’s finalists.  Back and forwards it went, with the judge admitting she was having trouble making up her mind.  Back went the MC boy, leaving just the two MC girls and the Sibby.  Then the other girl was put back, and it was down to the final two…… Jazz and the Siberian.  I had everything crossed, but in the end, the judge went for the Siberian.  (sigh)… though I have to admit, she said it was so hard, and he was stunning, so never mind being beaten by such a wonderful cat, but would have loved to have made it up on to the top stage with Jazz.  Ah well, maybe next year!
