We have this week started to reduce our numbers in order to retire early next year from breeding. This week, Poppy and Lalique have been spayed. We will give them both time to recover and they will be ready for rehoming towards the end of September. Poppy is a large black smoke and white girl, aged 7 and Lalique is a tortie tabby aged 2 and a half. Both are gentle, affectionate girls who would benefit from being the only cat in quiet homes. Lalique is slightly nervous until she knows you, but would soon settle down, Poppy is a real in-your-face lap cat, but does have minor health issues, which Im happy to discuss with anyone interested in offering her a home. Both cats are sporting short coats after having kittens earlier this year, but these will grow back in during the next few months. There will be a charge for Lalique, but we would like a donation to the MCBS rescue and rehoming fund for Poppy. These are much loved cats and we will be wanting just the right home for each of them. Please email initially if interested.
Such an overcast day, I tried to set up a white blanket to get better photos, but they preferred the safety of their nest! All doing really well, and some very good weights. Menemsha is such a good mother. She is thankfully, happier for me to touch and hold them now.
Photos below. None of the kittens is currently available.
Long drive to Southampton yesterday for 3 counties show. Nothing for Satchmo in a massive Olympian class of 17 stunning male neuters, though he did get Best of Breed, and two 2nds in side classes. But Izzy (Northern Lights) did us proud, with her second Olympian certificate, Best of Breed, and a red card day (firsts in all side classes). We are very proud of this young lady. Hopefully, we will again be showing Jazz soon, as she has now regained a decent coat after kittening at the beginning of the year (showing breeding cats is a “long game” as they tend to dramatically lose condition after kittening!). She will be going for her remaining Imperial certificates. As you can see, Satchmo was very laid back, but we couldnt open pen to take pics of izzy as she just wants to come out and cuddle!
Finally, I am allowed to stroke the kittens! (but not yet to take them out of the nest!)
Here are photos at one week old. All kittens have potential new owners lined up, though if any become available those who have expressed an interest will be contacted first before listing here. Please excuse the dirty faces. Mum has a rather greasy tummy which affects some kittens’ faces. This will go at around 5 weeks old. Their eyes are all just opening.
Sorry, no photos as yet. Aiming to do some over this weekend and will post as soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone who has asked about having one of these kittens – we have been deluged with enquiries! Im sorry to disappoint so many people, particularly those on my lists who have been patiently waiting, but as always have had to put those who have had kittens from us before first, and they are now all optioned, and those with options have been informed.
Should any later become available then I will post news here.
We hope to do another mating soon, for kittens as these leave us in October. It will either be Pascali to George, where kittens will all be some sort of red – tabby, solid, with silver, or smokes. The other planned mating for this year is Peggy to Gus, where, quite literally, we can have any colour as there is solid, tabby, silver and dilute present in both cats! That should be an exciting litter.
No pictures yet Im afraid.
Menemsha had her babies on Friday night. It was quite a traumatic birth, and she has been super protective of them since. Initially it was hard for me to be near her, but she is now allowing me to stroke her, though the babies are still out of bounds! Hopefully it wont take long, she is usually the sweetest, most head-butting cat ever, but her “mummy hormones” have kicked in, and then some!
Because of this, I cannot be definitive as to what we have. Colours, yes, but not all can be sexed as yet. Photos will follow once we are allowed more access.
I will not be placing options on any from this litter as yet, though if you are interested, dont hesitate to let me know. As always, once they have been assessed for show potential, options will be allocated in the order – people who have had kittens from me before; people already on my waiting list, having filled in a form; new enquiries.
I *think* (though this will most likely change) we have:-
girl 1 – very brightly coloured solid tortie and white or silver tortie tabby and white.
girl 2- Silver tortie tabby, mostly silver tabby. No white.
Boy 1 – red silver tabby or red smoke and white.
? – black smoke no white
? – black smoke and white
? – Brown tabby, not sure if with white or not.
Hopefully, we will be able to put up photos before too long.
It is always lovely to see pics of our kittens in their new homes. Here are Archie and Jasper (from Lalique and George litter) relaxing in their new home. Photos courtesy of Lisa.
This black smoke and white male is now available (ready to leave around July 19th, currently 10 weeks and first full health check passed with flying colours). He is an excellent example of black smoke, jet black top coat with a pure white undercoat – exactly how a smoke should be! His type is also very good, so has lots of potential for those who are looking for a show cat, though a good home is always our top priority.
