A nice local show this time, at Warwick Show ground so only around half an hour’s drive for the Coventry and Leicester Club show. Pleased to say Menemsha won her third Imperial certificate (only two to go now!) and Best of Breed. She was also up for Best in Show, but was beaten by the cat that won the Reserve Imperial – go figure!
Satchmo won his open too, and also Best of Breed, and as usual, charmed all the judges with his laid back personality.
Sadly our Polish lady, Zeta, really, really, hated it! She curled up in a small ball under her blanket and refused to come out all day, so her wishes have been noted and we wont take her again. A shame, as she is looking so lovely, but not all cats like being shown. As we were taking Zeta, we left Jazz at home so her next outing will be as an adult, rather than a kitten.
Some photos here of the three kittens….
Next outing will be to TICA mid march, when we will take Izzy out to try to gain more points towards her Double Grand Champion certificate.
It will be some 3-4 weeks before we can confirm, but hopefully we will have kittens due early April. We will update on here when we have more news. This will be from Walter x Lalique. Scroll down to see what colours can be expected from this mating.
Show news page has been updated with our results yesterday.
We dont currently have any kittens, or expected litters. The girls are not yet coming into call, so we are waiting on them – but once we think we have litters due, we will, of course, update on here.
Currently planned, and in the order we hope to have kittens:-
Lucifern Lalique to Walter – this mating should give us red tabby males; tortie tabby females; brown tabby females (all +/- white). If Lalique carries solid then we could also get black, red or tortie solid (+/- white) but this isnt known as yet.
Alisika Pascali to Walter – this mating should give us red tabby, red solid, red shaded or red smoke males (all +/- white). Females will all be tortie – either tortie tabby; silver tortie tabby; tortie smoke; tortie shaded; solid tortie (all +/- white)
IGRCH Mabalakat Northern LIghts to UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker– this mating is a repeat of last years so kittens from that mating can be seen if you scroll down to Izzy’s litter. Colours could be red tabby or solid males and females; brown tabby males and females; tortie solid or tortie tabby females; black males or females (all +/-white)
IGRCH Coonberry Daddys Girl to UK&IGRCH Alisika City-Slicker – this mating is a repeat of the matings that gave us Menemsha, Walter, and Satchmo and Jazz. Poppy’s previous litters can be seen by scrolling down. Likely colours are males – brown tabby, black and white, black smoke; females – tortie and white, tortie tabby and white; tortie smoke and white; silver tortie tabby and white.
GRCH Mabalakat Menemsha-Bay to ? (Menemsha has to go out to stud so this is yet to be arranged but hopefully will be to same boy as last year, CH Julescoon Paddington-Bear. Their kittens can be seen by scrolling down under Menemsha’s litter).
In November, we welcomed a new addition to our breeding cats…. Zeta joined us from breeder Ewa Szczucka in Poland. Zeta is a huge long tortie tabby with a gentle nature who we hope will be a really great addition and welcome outcross to our breeding. Her first kittens will most likely be in the autumn or spring 2019.
Zeta has a fabulous profile, wide muzzle and tall ears. She also has a long body with tall legs and promises to be a very large girl when mature. She isnt very keen on being bathed however, so may not be able to be shown – we are currently working on that problem with her! These photos were done today, at 8 months old.
Izzy (GR CH Mabalakat Northern Lights) achieved her 3rd Imperial certificate at the 3 counties show at the weekend. She also got BOB and was a close runner up for BIS SLH adult, lost out due to her summer coat. Lalique came second to a much more mature girl, which is fine, she is only just an adult herself but Pascali made it quite clear that she really doesnt like showing, so will be retired from the show bench, and will just have to look beautiful here, and have lovely babies. A shame when this happens, particularly as her cream shaded pattern is one of the best we have ever seen, but I wouldnt ever show a cat that hates it so much as it wouldnt be fair.
After a scan at the vet’s we can announce that Walter’s first ever kittens are on their way! It would appear that Glori (CH Mabalakat Gloriana) is due around 23rd August with what looks to be 2 kittens.
We can never be sure of colours at this point (and sometimes for some time after birth!) but possibles are (all most likely with white):
Brown tabby, Silver tabby, Black, Black smoke, (both sexes)
We will update as soon as we have details. Last time, she had two, that were born 3 days apart…… so we may be a while before we can post what she has, but as these are Walter’s first babies, we are excited to see what they are like.
Photos of Poppy’s babies hopefully tomorrow now they are 6 weeks.
Menemsha gave birth on May 2nd, and sadly one kitten didnt make it. But these three are rapidly turning into little barrels. Mum is VERY protective, so we had to quickly pop in and use the flash. They are 10 days old in the photos. The red tabby boy and the brown tabby boy are both reserved. The tortie girl is under assessment, and will possibly stay here with us.
