It has been quite a while since I updated this site so quite a bit to catch up on.
Firstly Show news – Early October saw us at the MCBS and LH/SLH shows, where Izzy (IGRCH Mabalakat Northern Lights) achieved her final Imperial certificates (and both Best of Breeds) before going on to the Supreme, where she was awarded her first UK Grand certificate and Best of Breed. The UK Grand is ONLY given at the Supreme, and she needs two to get the title, so hopefully, she will be back again in October 2018 to try for the second one. In December she attended two TICA shows, and had several finals and is now also a GR CH in that organisation too! She is now taking a rest from showing to (hopefully) have her second litter to George early in 2018.
In November, GR CH Mabalakat Menemsha came back out onto the show bench after a long time off whilst having her first litter, and at the CPRCAOV show, she gained her first Imperial certificate, and also went on to be not only Best of Breed, but Best of Colour across all MC adults, neuters and kittens, too! In January, she achieved her second Imperial certificate at the Capital and Eastern shows, and was also Best of Breed in both shows.
Satchmo and Jazz went to the MCBS and LH/SLH shows in October for their first kitten shows, where both did well, with Satchmo taking 1st and BOB in the LH/SLH show, losing out to an older cat in the MCBS show for BOB (though he was first in his age group), and Jazz was second in both shows to an older girl, so good results for their first show, only making the required 14 weeks of age by a few days!
At the CPRCAOV show in November, they had a very good day. Jazz was again second to an older girl, but in a class where all the cats were of excellent quality that is nothing to be embarrassed about! Satchmo had a wonderful day – he was 1st and Best of Breed, then made Best of Colour across all the Silver series adults, kittens and neuters, and finally went on to be Best In Show Semi Longhair Kitten! Both will be out again on the bench now that they have matured more, so hopefully more results soon!
Glori had her litter on Thursday. As expected, only two kittens, but sadly, one didnt make it. The remaining kitten is doing well and is a beautifully marked Black smoke with white male. He has white bib, paws and a lovely white muzzle and blaze. Mum and singleton are both doing well. Photos will follow later.
Izzy (GR CH Mabalakat Northern Lights) achieved her 3rd Imperial certificate at the 3 counties show at the weekend. She also got BOB and was a close runner up for BIS SLH adult, lost out due to her summer coat. Lalique came second to a much more mature girl, which is fine, she is only just an adult herself but Pascali made it quite clear that she really doesnt like showing, so will be retired from the show bench, and will just have to look beautiful here, and have lovely babies. A shame when this happens, particularly as her cream shaded pattern is one of the best we have ever seen, but I wouldnt ever show a cat that hates it so much as it wouldnt be fair.
After a scan at the vet’s we can announce that Walter’s first ever kittens are on their way! It would appear that Glori (CH Mabalakat Gloriana) is due around 23rd August with what looks to be 2 kittens.
We can never be sure of colours at this point (and sometimes for some time after birth!) but possibles are (all most likely with white):
Brown tabby, Silver tabby, Black, Black smoke, (both sexes)
We will update as soon as we have details. Last time, she had two, that were born 3 days apart…… so we may be a while before we can post what she has, but as these are Walter’s first babies, we are excited to see what they are like.
Photos of Poppy’s babies hopefully tomorrow now they are 6 weeks.
