Whilst we welcome phone calls from people interested in looking for a kitten or cat, at sensible hours, receiving an automated message at 5.20 am is guaranteed to put you straight onto our blacklist!
It has been a long time since George came out (as a UK IMP GRCH he hardly needs to prove anything!) but he is looking so wonderful at the moment we couldnt risk trying him in the OLYMPIAN class. This is against the VERY best cats, across all the different breeds and is notoriously hard to do well in. George has already received one certificate at this level, but I took him thinking I would be happy if he were to be placed. He had a wonderful day, in both shows he was placed in the OLY class, (5th and 6th) and also got Best of Breed, and in his side classes had 3 firsts and one second in big classes, so we were happy. He as usual, behaved brilliantly and was an excellent ambassador for the breed, welcoming attention from visitors. Photos will follow later.
The time I hate – Weaning and worming – YUK! hopefully normal clean kittens will be resumed soon.
We have just mated both Izzy and Lalique to George, so hopefully we will have two litters in early April. (To be confirmed in next couple of weeks).
After 30 years, this is to be our last year of breeding. All good things come to an end, and we think we have more than made a contribution to the furtherment of this wonderful breed, and to good breeding practise. We hope to wind down slowly, but sadly, wont be able to keep all of our cats ourselves, so will be looking to find new homes for some of them. We are going to have a last litter with each girl, (so hopefully 5-6 litters this year) in the hope that it might be possible for them to find homes with one of their kittens. If you think you might be interested in having a mother/kitten pair, please do let us know, but we would prefer this to be to homes without other pets already. We only want the very best pet homes for our cats, and they will be neutered, vaccinated and health checked prior to leaving us. They will not be giveaways, there will be a charge for each cat, though not as much as a kitten. Some will be staying here with us, as pets and to allow us to enjoy showing from time to time.
Jazz is such a good mum these babies are piling on the weight now. They are still reluctant to come out of their nest, but we expect they will be running around before much longer. All of these babies are optioned.
Jazz is proving to be a really attentive mother, and these babies are growing into fat little piggies!
We are now fairly certain that we have FOUR boys and TWO girls. Three red silver tabby with white boys, and one silver tabby with white boy, and two silver tabby with white girls. All kittens have been optioned to very patient people on our kitten list who have been waiting. Those who were unlucky have been moved onto the list for the next litter. We dont have any news of who will be our next litter, as yet, but will post here once we know.
In the meantime, here are the kittens today, at two weeks. Four are OPTIONED, but one of the boys, is still available. If interested, please contact me. Preference will be given to people already on my waiting list, but it is still worth getting in touch to express interest.
Mabalakat Peggy (tortie smoke and white) is out of Pascali and Walter. She is a beautiful girl with masses of charm and individuality. She has been shown a couple of times, and has been 1st and Best of Breed every time so far, with one Best Section 2 Kitten in show (at 14 weeks!). Judges seem to really like her confident and friendly nature.
Mabalakat Penny (Red classic tabby with white) is out of Izzy and George. She too has done well in shows. As she is now 8 months old, we will wait until she is adult before showing her again. Hopefully both will go on to have kittens later on.
As Menemsha is looking so lovely at the moment, we took a photo. Sadly, at 4 years she has only produced one (rather lovely) litter. She just doesnt call very often, but we have a handsome boy lined up for when she does! Hopefully it will be this year.
